Penn’s Woods Painters again took part in the 2009 Symphony Showhouse.This years’ theme was “Susquehanna River Retreat” for the property located on River Road in Harrisburg. Parking was not available at the house, but there were shuttles running from Fort Hunter to the house throughout the day.

Our group decorated the Master Bath. Yes, you read that correctly – decorate, not just paint. Due to this, we had a specific design theme and had to design and select pieces to be painted in addition to the walls – from small accessories to furniture – to coordinate with the design of the room. The final design of the room was a soft Fresco tropical mural with a Classic Diamond pattern on the lower walls.Tracy Ludwig, Jane Allen and Debra Krieger designed a “Rain Forest Fantasy in the Master Bath complete with a lush tropical forest, tree frogs, beautiful birds, exotic flowers and wildlife.Preparation and painting of the room started March 16th and was completed by May 13th.

The project was a great success. In addition to the $335 in designer sales, chapter members provided items for sale in the “Rock Bridge Boutique” (chaired by Jackie Nowak) netting $3,657 in sales, resulting in a donation of $914.25 to the Harrisburg Symphony.
